Poetry Prints for Babylon Songs
In order to give more readers an opportunity to experience fine press printing, we created a series of prints for the release of the poetry collection, Babylon Songs.
These prints can be added individually or as a series and will be available first through the Kickstarter campaign and later on our website - if there are any remaining.
These have been hand printed on the Vandercook Universal Printing Press on fine press paper. Each one features a poem from the poetry collection, Babylon Songs by Colleen Harris and an illustration by Sandie Levent of Studio Mauvais Oeil.
About the illustrator:
Sandie Levent is the founder of Studio Mauvais Œil, a print and design practice based in Lyon, France. A part-time illustrator for almost twenty years (her main activity is motion design), her competing interests coalesced into a cohesive artistic project when she discovered linoleum carving and printing. The artisanal and unpredictable nature of this process pairs well with Levent's patient drafting, breathing life and immediacy into thoughtfully conceived, often dreamlike images of nature and femininity.
One of the prints is not shown below. It was printed using embossed ink on StarDream pearlescent “punch” paper, and the embossing did not show up well in a photo. There will be more details about the prints and how they were produced on the Kickstarter page. These were created to support the funding of the full limited edition poetry book.
